    Expertise

    Chiraz is a PhD holder and a French qualified lawyer advising and representing French and foreign clients in various commercial arbitration proceedings, either ad hoc or institutional (ICC, CIAP, CMAP, DIAC, CRCICA, etc.) relating to a broad spectrum of industries (construction, infrastructures, defense, international sales, distribution, post-M&A) and covering numerous applicable laws and seats of arbitration. 

    Chiraz acts also in enforcement and annulment proceedings of international arbitral awards before French and Tunisian courts, and sits as arbitrator (co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator, chairman) in ad hoc or institutional arbitration. 

    She is a lecturer in arbitration law at the Paris Bar School and is also the author of numerous articles in the professional legal journals. She intervenes regularly as a speaker to discuss topics notably related to arbitration and mediation in the MENA region.

    Before joining ADVANT Altana, Chiraz was a lecturer in civil law at several universities (University Panthéon-Assas, University Saint-Quentin en Yvelines, University of Le Mans, University of Orléans).

    In another note, Chiraz is, since January 2023, the French national representative of the IBA Young Lawyer’s Committee. 

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree and a Master I in private law (University of Sfax, Tunisia, 2011).
    • Master II in general and European private law (University of Limoges, 2012).
    • PhD in arbitration law (University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne, summa cum laude, 2017) dealing with the establishment of the content of applicable law in international arbitration.

    Client Matters

    • Counsel to the Respondent in an ICC case between a Danish company and an Italian company in relation to the allocation of risks and liabilities provided for in a sale purchase agreement related to a wind farm – Italian law – English language; 
    • Counsel to a third-party funder joined as Claimant n°2 to an ICC case between Cameroonian, French, Lebanese and Swiss companies in relation to a share purchase agreement — OHADA law — French language; 
    • Counsel to the Claimant in an ICC case between French companies in relation to an advisory agreement in the context of the restructuring of a group — French law — English language;
    • Counsel to the Respondent in an ICC arbitration between a North African Ministry of Interior and a Turkish company in the context of a procurement contract for the acquisition of armored vehicles — a law of a North-African country— French language;
    • Counsel to a Tunisian construction company in an ad hoc arbitration against two Czech companies regarding the construction of a cultural city hall – Tunisian law – French language; 
    • Counsel to Claimant in two ICC arbitrations between respectively a Turkish and an Indonesian company in the context of a Distributorship Agreement of IT services and products; 
    • Co-arbitrator appointed by the Respondent in an ICC arbitration between an Italian company and a Saudi company related to a contract for the supply of machinery, equipment and materials – International Trade Law - English language.
