ALTANA advises the German retail leader ALDI in the purchase from CASINO of 570 LEADER PRICE stores and warehouses in France for €735 million
After several months of negotiation, an agreement was reached between ALDI and CASINO for the acquisition by ALDI of 567 LEADER PRICE supermarkets and three warehouses located in mainland France for an enterprise value of 735 million euros.
In the midst of the Covid-19 health crisis, this agreement is good news for the retail sector, which is on the front line in ensuring food supply to the population.
This transaction, which will take place after various social consultations and is subject to the approval of the competition authorities, will enable ALDI to become a major player in discount retail on the French market, as it already is in Germany.
Through this major transaction in the mass retail sector, ALTANA is once again demonstrating its know-how to lead and coordinate the negotiation and the legal aspects of its clients’ strategic operations.
In order to successfully complete the first phase of this highly complex operation in the context of a particularly high-impact health crisis, ALTANA was able to rely on the professionalism and unfailing commitment of all the lawyers in the multidisciplinary team specially formed for this transaction.
