Mural art, also known as 'street art', is not specifically covered by urban planning regulations in terms of authorisation, nor by local documents in terms of installation. Although it is now at the heart of many public space transformation projects, mural art is nevertheless struggling to find its place in the legal landscape. Specific legal or regulatory provisions are needed to authorise projects and ensure their long-term installation.
