    A look back at the difficult balancing act between press freedom and preventing market abuse


    A fundamental freedom guaranteed by the law of 29 July 1881 and Article 10 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ECHR), the protection afforded to journalists under the freedom of the press is not absolute and may, in certain circumstances, be subordinated to the need to protect the integrity of the financial markets.
